Tekno Calls Out ‘Headies’ on His ‘Next Rated’ Nomination

Tekno Calls Out ‘Headies’ on His ‘Next Rated’ Nomination

Even though the 2016 Headies is yet to take place, new drama is already trailing the highly acclaimed music awards ceremony.
Today, MMMG singer Tekno took to his Instagram to call out the awards show by complaining about his nomination in this year’s ‘Next Rated’ category.
‘Next Rated after how many years! Please, Let’s be honest” he wrote on his Instagram.

Tekno, who first came into the music scene in 2012 with his single Holiday ft. Davido, was nominated alongside rapper Ycee, Mr.Eazi, Humblesmith and alternative singer Aramide in the ‘Next Rated’ category of the 2016 Headies. However, it appears Tekno finds the award nomination an insult considering the number of years he has been in the music industry.
But should Tekno be offended?
The Headies award for the Next Rated artiste is usually given to the most promising ‘upcoming’ officially signed artiste in the year under review and the winner is usually gifted with a brand new car. Tekno was signed to Ubi Franklin’s MMMG in 2013 , however he only began to garner massive attention last year after he released hit singles like Duro and Wash.
So could this be the reason the 23-year-old singer is deemed as ‘upcoming?’
Last year’s Headies was riddled with so much drama, with the most memorable being the feud between YBNL’s Olamide and Mavin’s Don Jazzy after Reekado Banks beat Lil Kesh to bag the Next Rated award.
Now it looks like Tekno has some beef with the awards show organisers and fans have rallied behind him to support his sentiments. Many are saying he should disregard the nomination.

Meanwhile, this fan may have a point…
